Compressing a Conical Spring

Conical springs are designed with a spring rate i.e. the pitch is variable. The solid height is much shorter than that of compression springs. In the case of spring deflection, the solid height is determined by winding up to a maximum of 2 wire diameters.

Spring Rate

Each of our conical springs has a changing pitch which results in a longer part of the linear spring rate. Conventional conical springs usually have a constant pitch which results in a progressive spring rate.

Use

1.4310 X10CrNi18-8 (V2A) 73000 187500  1300-2600 -200 until +250 Stainless steel for the most
common applications suitable for seawater resistant slightly magnetic a humid environment, but not
due to work hardening

End shape and spring coil direction

The ends are laid out and not ground. The springs are righ-hand coiled.

Conical Spring Applications

Conical springs are frequently used in battery contacts.
